Colored leaves falling from the trees is one of the first things we associate with this season and it is a great look to incorporate into your home decor. You can find garlands in fall shades or candle stands with leaf designs. Leaves in seasonal colors can also be incorporated into lovely centerpieces and floral arrangements to mark the season.

Harvest is another common association with the autumn season and is another easy way to incorporate fall decorating themes into your home. Gourds are available in most local farmers markets or grocery stores and are a common ingredient in fall home decorating. They are quite versatile and can be grouped in a bowl, added to centerpieces or floral arrangements and also make lovely tabletop decorations. They can even be used to hold name place cards for a formal dinner party.

Even if your home is not decorated in anything like fall colors you can add fall decorating elements. Follow the harvest theme with bowls of fruit as a centerpiece. Bowls of apples, pears, dried colorful corn or small gourds may look lovely with your existing decor.

Here is an example of decorating a room for fall when your color scheme is not fall related at all. Pale blue greens and aquas are quite popular right now and we would not immediately associate those colors with autumn. But a room containing a lot of aqua can actually look quite stunning with just a hit of soft red or a bowl of golden gourds or colorful fall apples surrounded by autumn leaves.
